At Junior Achievement of San Diego County’s newly launched JA Titan Summer Camp, an immersive, simulation-based learning experience, high school students were introduced to the fundamentals of business and entrepreneurship.

Throughout the week, students explored key concepts in business, economics, and the world of work. Acting as CEOS of their own phone companies, participants made strategic decisions across research and development, production, marketing, and operations. As their choices played out in real time, students gained a deeper understanding of how businesses operate and how decisions impact outcomes.

But beyond the strategy and competition, the experience is designed to be engaging, collaborative, and fun.

“My favorite part of this camp was definitely the games,” said Sia, a sophomore high school student. “You didn’t have come in knowing a lot about business to participate, which made it really accessible and enjoyable. I learned a lot of the lingo, including what CSR means, how it exists, and why it matters.”

The simulation allows students to build confidence while learning new concepts and terminology. Many walked away with a stronger understanding of real-world business practices, including corporate social responsibility and how companies make decisions that impact both people and profit.

A highlight of the week was the JA Titan Challenge competition. Students worked in teams to make strategic business decisions, analyze the outcomes, and continue to innovate to drive their company’s success.

“I had a great experience,” said Keith, a freshman high school student. “I especially liked the opportunity to compete against classmates and apply what we were learning.”

Students gained exposure to business concepts, while developing critical thinking, teamwork, and decision-making skills that will serve them in future academic and career pursuits. JA Titan serves as impactful introduction to entrepreneurship and a reflection of Junior Achievement’s commitment to preparing the next generation of business leaders in our community.
