JA BizTown Summer Camp

Grades 4-6

Campers jump start their entrepreneurial spirit through hands-on activities, and team-building games.

  • Explore key economic concepts and job readiness skills in preparing for the real world.
  • Discover unique personality traits, explore employment soft skills, and build a resume to interview for jobs in The McGrath Family JA BizTown.
  • Envision a new business venture by working with a team to create a business plan, product model, and presentation.

JA BizTown Summer Camp 2024 Sessions:

Session One: Monday, Jul 8 – Friday, Jul 12
Session Two: Monday, Jul 29 – Friday, Aug 2
Session Three: Monday, Aug 5 – Friday, Aug 9

When: Camp runs from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm each day.

  • Tuesday: “BizProfile” – Complete skills and personality assessment and actively work as a team

  • Thursday: “BizPrep” – Present business proposal and continue preparation for the BizTown simulation

  • Build a foundation to make intelligent lifelong financial decisions, related to income, expenses, savings, and credit.
  • Make friends and play games all while getting ready for the real world!

  • Monday: Discover MY Future – Define strengths and interests to explore possible careers.
  • Tuesday: Explore MY Future – Build your skillset for your future career and learn what it takes to build a strong credit history for a successful future.
  • Wednesday: Ready for MY Future – Learn essential skills for the workplace and participate in mock interviews.
  • Thursday: Finance MY Future – Learn money management skills and build a personal finance toolkit.
  • Friday: Imagine MY Future – Participate in the Mission Fed JA Finance Park life simulation and manage a budget for a virtual family!

Summer Camp FAQs

JA San Diego is proud to be a San Diego Unified Level Up Nonprofit Partner in Summer of 2024.

The Level Up program is run through InPlay.  Level Up participants must register for JA Summer Camps through InPlay directly.  Parents/guardians will receive a text from the school district with information.

BizTown Summer Camp is open to students going into 4th – 6th grade in the Fall 2024 semester. Finance Park Summer Camp is for those students going into 7th – 9th grade in the Fall 2024 semester.

All JA Summer Camp programs are $315 per camper.

JA San Diego is offering financial aid scholarships. To learn more on how to apply, please contact Judy Eng at jeng@jasandiego.org.

We do not offer sibling or multiple enrollment discounts.

If the week you want to sign up for is sold out, you can join our waitlist and we will reach out if any spots open up. To get added to the waitlist, select the “Join the Waitlist” ticket option on the registration links above.

All JA Summer Camp sessions run Monday-Friday from 9 am-3 pm each day.

Our counselor-to-camper ratio is no more than 1:15.

All staff have been background checked and completed mandatory trainings.

We do not offer friend requests for any reason. Campers will be grouped by multiple factors.

We do not offer before or after care for summer camp.

The week prior to your registered camp week, parents/guardians will receive an email with camp instructions and necessary forms to be completed.

The deadline to receive a full refund is three weeks prior to the camp start date. Cancellations made after three week deadline are not eligible to receive a refund.

Credit card processing fees are not included in any refunds.
