We offer a variety of in-person and virtual volunteer opportunities to fit your schedule. Whether you choose to teach JA curriculum, mentor high school students, or assist at our events, you’ll be making a difference in the lives of young people.

ELEMENTARY SCHOOL PROGRAMS

ELEMENTARY SCHOOL PROGRAMS

McGrath Family JA BizTown

  • In-person

  • 5-6 hours (one day)

  • Volunteers help 5th-grade students run their shops during our BizTown simulation in which students learn about jobs, money, and their local economy.

MIDDLE & HIGH SCHOOL PROGRAMS

Mission Fed JA Finance Park

  • In-person

  • 5-6 hours (one day)

  • Volunteers teach students about personal finance and assist our budgeting simulation where students must learn to manage a month’s worth of adult finances.

JA Stock Market Challenge

  • In-person

  • 4-5 sessions (typically a 4-week commitment)

  • Volunteers teach students JA Take Stock In Your Future curriculum in which students learn the fundamentals of the stock market. Volunteers can also support at our JA Stock Market Challenge competition.

JA Company Program

  • In-person

  • 7-14 sessions (typically a 12-week commitment)

  • Volunteers give teams of high school students guidance as they develop and manage their business ventures over the course of a semester.

JA Fellows

  • Mentor: Mentors provide professional guidance to high school students and serve as a connection to industry and career pathways. Mentors meet once a month with their mentees at Lincoln High School or Hoover High School.

  • Career panels: Career panelists will provide insights into what it is like working in the field and share their career journeys with students. This is a one-day volunteer opportunity.
