Mission Fed JA Finance Park

Mission Fed JA Finance Park

Mission Fed JA Finance Park builds the foundational knowledge and skills students need to make smart lifelong financial decisions. Guided by volunteers, this program takes students through an adult life simulation where they learn how to budget, save, and spend for themselves and their virtual families.

We offer two formats for participating in the program: the teacher-led format and the one-day visit format. The teacher-led format allows teachers to lead their students through 6-13 financial literacy lessons, culminating in a visit to our Mission Fed JA Finance Park facility. Additional activities are available for each theme: Income, Savings, Insurance and Risk Management, Credit and Debit, and Budgeting. The one-day visit format includes JA staff teaching the financial literacy curriculum on-site during the visit to our Mission Fed JA Finance Park facility.

To register for a class or for more information on Mission Fed JA Finance Park, please contact Colin Farrell at cfarrell@jasandiego.org.

JA for Everyone

Ages 12+

JA for Everyone equips participants with the knowledge and skills they need to make informed financial decisions in the real world. Our budgeting workshop is a 4-hour immersive simulation that teaches participants the importance of budgeting, income, savings, debt, investing, and insurance.

During the simulation, participants are challenged with budgeting one month’s worth of adult finances. They will be given a realistic adult profile complete with a job, salary, family, credit, credit score, and education debt based on San Diego averages. Participants will apply for a mortgage and a car loan, choose insurance, pay for childcare, contribute to charity, and manage their bills and obligations.

Join us to learn how to budget and make smart financial decisions. This program is available for virtual implementation or as an in-person one-day session.
