Junior Achievement of San Diego County (JA San Diego) announced Christina Hastings, Illumina Director of Company and Employee Communications at Illumina, and Doug Wright, President & CEO of Mission Fed, have joined their Board of Directors.
Hastings brings over 20 years of corporate and executive communications experience. She is a San Diego-based seasoned global communications professional with a proven track record of developing and executing impactful communication strategies. Leveraging her deep understanding of industry trends and her collaborative spirit, she empowers teams to craft compelling narratives that resonate with key audiences. Prior to her role at Illumina, Hastings served as director of corporate communications at Zovio Inc., formerly known as Bridgepoint Education, and account manager at Robert Half International. Hastings attended Point Loma Nazarene University, where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Managerial and Organizational Communications.
Prior to joining the board, Hastings was a longtime volunteer mentor with the JA Fellows program. She has also been involved with United Way of San Diego County, LEAD San Diego, Girl Scouts of San Diego, and IABC San Diego. In 2018, Hastings was named a San Diego Magazine “Woman of the Year” finalist.
Wright became Mission Fed President & CEO after serving as the credit union’s CFO for eight years. Prior to joining Mission Fed, Doug was employed at Silvergate Bank, Sterling Savings Bank, and West One Bank. Doug holds an MBA from Gonzaga University and undergraduate degrees in finance and accounting from the University of California, Berkeley and Boise State University, respectively.
He has held leadership roles in many community organizations, including the San Diego Council on Literacy, Jobs Plus, Daybreak Youth Services, and the United Cerebral Palsy Foundation, and has volunteered with United Way, the San Diego Food Bank, Rady Children’s Hospital, Feeding San Diego, the Food Bank, Junior Achievement, the Girl Scouts and Leadership Spokane. He is also currently serving on the Credit Unions for Kids executive committee.
