A Letter from the President

Dear JA Friends,

Our team is determined to provide all San Diego students with the Junior Achievement experience, which teaches them basic life skills necessary to succeed in today’s challenging world. This year, our goal was to provide a 20% increase in the number of students. Because of YOUR support, we are so proud to share JA exceeded this goal by reaching a record-breaking 80,344 students during the 2016-2017 school year. The number is a 30% increase compared to last year.

As we celebrate this historic milestone, we want to recognize the support and commitment of 6,322 volunteers who generously gave their time and energy to make a difference. To celebrate the successful school year, we asked five of our most devoted volunteers to share “Why They Volunteer for JA” for a special JA blog series. We hope you will find inspiration in their stories.

Below is an excerpt from Bob Cange, who has been instrumental in recruiting volunteers for the Mission Fed JA Finance Park program:

The key word for me with all JA programs is: PRACTICAL. This is practical, everyday financial knowledge that is simply not taught in the classrooms. The JA programs are absolutely essential to providing our children, our students with practical financial information to help them succeed and be financially responsible adults,” said Bob Cange, JA Volunteer.

On behalf of all of us at Junior Achievement, thank you for making this school year a huge success. We hope we can count on your continued support as we begin another exciting school year.

Warmest regards,

Marla Black
